about us

We don’t make any money!

I set up the Foster Care Co-operative in 1999 to provide an alternative to Independent Fostering agencies, which operate to make a profit - or to build a Company to sell on.

After years in local authority management, early retirement gave me the chance to react to the agencies who had been poaching local authority foster carers.

Quite apart from the morality of it, we see no point in poaching existing foster carers, we want to add to the total number and give more children the chance of family life. We have grown slowly by bringing new people to fostering.

We already work with 40 local authorities in England and Wales. We plan to continue our steady growth in years to come.
