Today we announce the retirement of Derek Clode, who many of our carers know throughout England and Wales through his role as Regional Manager for Wales.
About his retirement Derek said, “I have a lot of mixed feelings about leaving as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I’ll miss the day-to-day banter with the team and I’ll miss working with the carers and the children that are looked after. The FCC foster carers really do an absolutely fantastic job. They have made – and continue to make – a massive difference to the children and young people’s lives and I can only thank them for all the hard work and effort.”
Derek joined our team in August 2010. He is both a qualified teacher and social worker, and he has worked in Child & Family / Child Protection, Fostering and Adoption in Cardiff and Caerphilly, and for Taith Newydd Fostering Project, and Action for Children.
Ian Brazier, Executive Director said; “It is with deep regret that we are losing Derek to retirement; he is going to be sorely missed, not only by the staff, but carers and youngsters too. His decisive leadership, his personal style, and his previous experience have made an outstanding contribution to The Foster Care Co-operative over the last five years.”
Recruiting for the new post of Regional Operational Manager is underway, with interviews taking place in the New Year. In the interim, Registered Manager for Wales, Kim Perkins will assume Derek’s duties.
