We are the proud sponsors of the Junior Sports Personality Award, at the European Capital of Sport Awards in conjunction with Cardiff Council and Nation Radio.
The prestigious Millennium Stadium in the heart of Cardiff will host a special sports award gala as the city celebrates its year as the ‘European Capital of Sport’.
Some of the world’s greatest sportsmen and women, as well as some of the most iconic sporting teams, have performed at the Welsh capital’s many world class facilities, and many of the city’s own sporting stars have brought medals and titles back to Cardiff.
The Cardiff European Capital of Sport steering committee, in partnership with Nation Radio, is asking the public to vote for their favourite sporting stars of 2014, across various categories. After the nomination period is over, the committee will draft short lists of nominees for the public to vote on.
The Foster Care Co-operative is sponsoring the award for ‘Junior Sports Personality’. A young sports person who has achieved a high level of success in their chosen sport this year, or who has gone that extra mile off the pitch achieving great things for their local community. Applicants must be 19 years of age or under.
Katrina Rohman, Marketing & Strategy Officer for FCC in Wales, said, “I am very excited about this initiative. Many of the young people who are in foster care admire and look up to many of the Welsh sporting stars, especially as lately there have been so many successful local figures. Sport has always been huge in Wales, and I know that this category is going to highlight some future superstars. I can’t wait to see what some of the nominees have achieved this year, and I know the competition is going to be stiff.”
The Cardiff ECOS Awards will be presented at the Millennium Stadium on Thursday 16 October.
