We’re fast approaching this year’s Foster Care Fortnight – our busiest 2 weeks of the year! The fortnight runs from 16th-29th May.
Foster Care Fortnight was conceived by The Fostering Network almost 20 years ago, and is a time to celebrate the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers. Each year there is a theme, and for 2016 it is ‘My favourite 20 minutes of last year’. This draws attention to the fact that, on average, a child requires a foster family every 20 minutes.
We have some fantastic foster carers here at FCC – and some have given their permission for us to share their favourite 20 minutes as foster carers. Take our word for it, some of the comments are very moving – and highlight the positive impact that they have made on children’s lives.
We will be sharing these comments and photos over the fortnight on our website and social media streams.
We’re also looking for new foster careers, and the fortnight is an ideal opportunity for us to engage with people who have been considering fostering for some time. We’re not-for-profit, so any surplus income is ploughed back into the organisation in order to provide more support and training for our careers. This is how foster care should be.
We’re currently looking for carers in the following areas/counties:
