The Fostering Network have recently issued a reminder for all fostering services to produce a Foster Carers’ Charter – to clearly highlight the commitments of both the fostering provider and the foster carer. FCC have had a charter in place since 2012, and it is provided to all newly registered foster carers along with their carer agreement form.
This month we explore the bewildering array of online age ratings for games, music videos and apps within the context of child development and digital parenting.
We have had some fantastic academic outcomes this year!
FCC fully supports Aspire To More, a creative project delivered by Inspired Youth in partnership with the Children’s Rights and Advocacy Service which is part of CSES (Children’s services Education and Skills).

FCC has recently presented a paper on why a ‘co-operative’ approach to fostering has led to outstanding educational results and child placement stability.
This month we have a Back to School Guide which looks at how parents and carers can support a child’s digital world with school work, homework and communicating with school.
A BBC report has highlighted the prevalence of ‘golden hellos’ offered to local authority foster carers by large commercial profit-making agencies to transfer. Whilst FCC fully supports the banning of these pay-outs, we need to be clear that companies offering these incentives are in fact commercial profit-making fostering organisations, rather than a number of ethical, not-for-profit fostering agencies that exist in the UK.
